The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is an independent national human rights institution committed to the promotion, protection, and fulfillment of human rights in Ethiopia.

EHRC is currently inviting qualified applicants for the following position.

Position: Security Guard

Required Education and Work Experience

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

• Completion of Grade 8 education
• Completion of military training
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in security services or a related field
• Ability to read, write, and speak Amharic fluently
• Commitment to upholding and demonstrating the values of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission

Purpose of the Position

The Security Guard is responsible for safeguarding the Commission’s personnel, visitors, and property while maintaining security, safety, and order within the institution.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Protect the Commission’s property and employees according to established security procedures and schedules
• Verify authorization documents before allowing property or vehicles to leave the premises
• Receive visitors courteously and conduct required security checks before entry
• Ensure offices, windows, lights, and water supplies are properly secured after working hours
• Register visitors carrying equipment, issue identification cards, and manage equipment return procedures
• Report for duty on time and conduct proper handover and takeover of responsibilities and equipment
• Handle and maintain security equipment responsibly and use it solely for official purposes
• Prevent and respond to security incidents, disturbances, and criminal activities within the premises
• Report security concerns and offenders to the appropriate supervisor
• Respond to fire emergencies and notify relevant emergency services when necessary
• Monitor and prevent prohibited items and substances from entering the institution
• Prepare and submit activity and performance reports as required

Salary and Benefits

Monthly Salary

ETB 7,200 – ETB 8,592

Additional Allowances

House Allowance: ETB 6,050

Transport Allowance: ETB 4,000
