The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) was established under the Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021 as an autonomous federal regulatory authority. Its primary mandate is to create and maintain a fair, orderly, and efficient capital market environment where securities and related instruments can be issued and traded responsibly.
As part of its role, ECMA licenses and supervises entities such as:
- Security exchanges
- Derivative exchanges
- Security depository and clearing companies
- Capital market service providers
- Over-the-counter (OTC) trading facilities
- Other regulated capital market activities
ECMA plays a vital role in shaping Ethiopia’s financial landscape by fostering transparency, investor protection, and market integrity.
Position Overview: Administrative Support Officer
ECMA is seeking a highly organized and experienced Administrative Support Officer to provide professional assistance to the Director General and Deputy Director General. The successful candidate will ensure efficient office management, coordination of schedules, preparation of official correspondence, and support in both internal and external communications.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, discretion, and attention to detail, along with the ability to manage competing priorities in a regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Director General and Deputy Director General, including diary management, meeting scheduling, and correspondence.
- Draft, edit, and finalize official memos, letters, acknowledgements, and communication materials.
- Plan and coordinate meetings: prepare agendas, arrange facilities, and distribute meeting notes.
- Ensure the Director General’s schedule is managed effectively, with all priorities respected.
- Handle and prioritize incoming issues and concerns, including sensitive or confidential matters.
- Serve as a communication bridge between the Director General’s office and internal departments, maintaining professionalism and trust.
- Track, follow up, and ensure timely completion of projects and administrative tasks under deadline pressure.
- Support the development of administrative policies and procedures within ECMA.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Office Management, Secretarial Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in administrative or office management roles.
