The World Bank Ethiopia Country Office is currently inviting qualified Ethiopian nationals to apply for the position of E T Consultant – Country Economist based in Addis Ababa.
Position: E T Consultant – Country Economist
Educational Qualification
Applicants must possess:
- Master’s Degree or higher in:
- Economics
- Business
- Finance
- Or a closely related field
Experience
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong ability to apply economic theory and analytical concepts to support private sector development and economic growth.
- Solid understanding of the key drivers of economic growth in emerging markets.
- Experience conducting economic analysis and making sound judgments when data or information is limited.
- Ability to evaluate market failures and assess policy options that improve investment attractiveness and private sector development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information.
- Ability to develop logical, evidence-based economic recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical and economic concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of sector economics, productivity, profitability, and competitiveness.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive knowledge of Africa’s economic environment and development challenges.
- Good understanding of IFC project cycles, investment processes, and World Bank Group products and instruments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage.
