ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is spearheading preparations for the upcoming African Union Heads of State and Government Summit. As part of Ethiopia’s diplomatic and logistical readiness, MoFA is recruiting qualified volunteers to serve as protocol cadets who will assist in organizing and delivering a dignified, smooth, and welcoming experience for visiting dignitaries.
This volunteer program is a unique national service opportunity for high-achieving recent graduates to contribute meaningfully to Ethiopia’s global image and gain professional experience in international relations, protocol, and event coordination.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
Selected volunteers will undergo training in protocol and event coordination, and will be assigned to various roles such as:
- Welcoming and greeting international guests.
- Supporting summit logistics and guest services.
- Performing key duties in coordination with MoFA’s event and diplomatic teams.
- Upholding Ethiopia’s image and service standards throughout the summit.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for the volunteer program, applicants must:
- Be a graduate from the 2016 or 2017 Ethiopian academic years with a minimum GPA of 3.6 for men and 3.4 for women.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution.
- Be proficient in at least one AU/UN working language, such as English, French, Arabic, or others.
- Be under 30 years old.
- Have a strong sense of national pride, discipline, and professional conduct.

NOTE
This is a volunteer opportunity, not a full-time paid role. Selected applicants will receive training and engagement for the duration of the summit.
