The University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for international students (excluding New Zealand citizens and permanent residents). The scholarship provides an excellent opportunity to study at one of New Zealand’s top universities while experiencing a diverse, multicultural academic environment.
This scholarship is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students, including Postgraduate Diplomas (PGDip) and Master’s programs, and supports a one-year study period.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be an international student (not a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia)
- Be a new student with a conditional or unconditional offer of admission
- Be enrolled in the Summer Start International Programme or full-time undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma, or Master’s program
- Have a Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of at least 6.00
- Inform the Scholarships Office about any other scholarships, awards, or grants
- Meet academic merit criteria for this scholarship
- Be enrolled in on-campus programs
- Repay the scholarship if they do not complete at least two semesters at the University of Auckland after selection
- Follow all scholarship regulations
