Position Overview – Finance Assistant
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for managing petty cash, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, preparing payment documents, and supporting warehouse management. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to financial regulations, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and control petty cash and cash on hand.
- Manage small warehouse/store items appropriately.
- Prepare petty cash replenishment and establishment.
- Allocate account numbers on cheques, CPVs, and CRVs.
- Record and post transactions according to the organization’s chart of accounts.
- Verify that expenditures are justified, properly made, and charged to correct accounts.
- Maintain daily transaction records and reconcile totals at month-end.
- Match petty cash analysis sheets with petty cash reports.
- Collect receivables against supporting documents and outstanding statements.
- Post receivable and payable accounts to subsidiary ledgers daily.
- Prepare tax and pension documentation in compliance with Ethiopian law.
- Process approved payments promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma or BA degree in Accounting from a recognized institution.
- Experience:
- 2 years for diploma holders.
- 0 years for degree holders.
- Skills:
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Experience with Peachtree accounting software.
