Position Overview: Junior Road Freight Officer
SYNTRANS Logistics is seeking a qualified Junior Road Freight Officer to manage fleet operations and transport-related inventory systems. The role focuses on optimizing fleet utilization, coordinating vehicle maintenance, supervising drivers, and ensuring effective inventory control for spare parts to support uninterrupted logistics services.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet and Driver Management
- Plan and coordinate daily truck movements and dispatch schedules
- Monitor fuel consumption and improve fleet efficiency
- Supervise driver performance, safety compliance, and discipline
Maintenance and Compliance
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs
- Ensure all trucks have valid licenses, insurance, and regulatory permits
- Maintain compliance with transport and safety standards
Store and Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and issue spare parts and consumables
- Maintain accurate stock records using GRN (Goods Receipt Note) and GIN (Goods Issue Note)
- Monitor stock levels and manage reorder points to avoid shortages
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare daily fleet performance and inventory reports
- Reconcile physical stock with system records
- Maintain proper documentation and filing systems
Required Qualifications
Education
- Degree or Diploma in:
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Auto-Mechanics
- Transport Management
- Or related fields
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in:
- Fleet operations, or
- Transport-related store/inventory management
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of transport and fleet operations
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance
Systems and Tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with fleet tracking or inventory management systems is an advantage
Administrative Skills
- Strong reporting and documentation abilities
- Effective record-keeping (both physical and digital)
Soft Skills
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with drivers and mechanics
