About the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS)
The Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) is a government agency dedicated to providing protection and essential services to refugees and returnees in Ethiopia. With nearly 1 million refugees hosted across 25 camps in six regional states, RRS works closely with UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations to deliver education, healthcare, shelter, and legal services to displaced populations.
Position Summary: Refugee Registration Officer II
RRS is seeking 60 contract-based Registration Officers to support refugee data management activities across multiple regions. The officers will be responsible for registering refugees using digital registration systems in coordination with RRS staff and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out refugee registration tasks using RRS systems
- Ensure accurate and professional data entry under supervision
- Work in coordination with multilingual teams in assigned refugee centers
- Report daily activities and challenges to supervisors
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc Degree in:
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
- Computer Science
- Cyber Security
- Software Engineering
- Or other closely related fields
- Experience: Not required (0 years of experience)
- Languages: Proficiency in Amharic, Tigrigna, Somali, English, or Arabic preferred
- Skills:
- Team collaboration
- Digital literacy
- Communication and cultural sensitivity
- Attention to accuracy and detail
Locations of Assignment
Selected candidates will be deployed to one of the following duty stations based on organizational needs:
- RRS Head Office – Addis Ababa
- Refugee Camps in: Assosa, Gambella, Jigjiga, Melkadida, Semera, Gonder
Contract & Compensation
- Contract Type: Short-term (6 months)
- Pay: 1,746 Birr per day, paid monthly
- Workload: Full-time, location-based assignment
