About Deborah Foundation
Deborah Foundation is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2019 with a mission to transform the lives of children with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Through programs in health, education, and policy advocacy, the foundation empowers families and communities to create an inclusive future for all children.
We are seeking a passionate and creative Public Relations Officer to join our growing team and contribute to building public awareness around our mission.
Job Summary:
This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career communications professional looking to build their skills in public relations, digital media, and nonprofit advocacy. You’ll be a key part of our external communications, supporting everything from social media to event coordination.
Position: Public Relations Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and update the Foundation’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Create and distribute engaging content: posts, press releases, digital flyers, and newsletters
- Design simple visuals using tools like Canva or Photoshop
- Support awareness campaigns (e.g. for short code donation services)
- Assist in organizing public events, outreach campaigns, and media relations
- Monitor online feedback and respond to inquiries professionally
- Ensure consistent branding across all platforms
- Take high-quality photos and post timely event coverage on digital channels
- Report regularly on engagement metrics and suggest improvements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- No prior work experience required – internships or volunteer experience a plus
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Creativity, attention to detail, and strong teamwork
- Passion for digital media and nonprofit communication
