About NEBE

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by Proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated institution responsible for administering elections, conducting referenda, and regulating political parties.

As part of preparations for Ethiopia’s 7th General Election in May 2026, NEBE is strengthening its institutional capacity through the recruitment of interns who will support civic and voter education initiatives across regions.

NEBE aims to engage 150 interns nationwide, working with the Civic and Voter Education Directorate, Regional Branch Offices (RBOs), and previously trained university student volunteers.

Position: Intern – Civic & Voter Education (CVE)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Civic Education, Adult Education, Political Science, or related Social Sciences
  • No prior experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Amharic and local language of the duty station
  • High level of professionalism, civic responsibility, and integrity
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region

Role Summary

Interns will support civic and voter education activities essential for ensuring an informed and engaged electorate ahead of the 2026 General Election.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and delivering civic and voter education programs
  • Support university student volunteers during outreach activities
  • Distribute voter education materials to communities
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for election-preparedness tasks
  • Document field activities and prepare regular reports
  • Engage with local communities to promote voter awareness

Duty Stations

  • Harari Region
  • Gambella Region
    Total Required: 20 (10 per region)

Compensation

  • Stipend only (intended to cover basic costs)
