Job Summary

MSF-Holland is seeking a qualified Medical Coordinator Support to assist the Medical Coordinator with implementing health programs in line with MSF standards. The role includes administrative, strategic, technical, and supervisory responsibilities and plays a key role in improving health outcomes across MSF field projects in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Medical Coordinator in overseeing medical activities and program planning.
  • Supervise project teams, provide guidance, and monitor performance across field locations.
  • Ensure compliance with MSF medical protocols, hygiene standards, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Participate in project monitoring visits, data analysis, and report development (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
  • Represent MSF to national/local health authorities, when delegated.
  • Coordinate staff health policy implementation, including medical evacuations and vaccination monitoring.
  • Provide technical input for quality improvement, patient-centered care, and incident reporting systems.
  • Support pharmaceutical logistics and the management of the central pharmacy.
  • Assist with medical assessments, emergency responses, and operational research across mission sites.
  • Facilitate training, recruitment, and coaching of medical staff.
  • Liaise with mission epidemiologists on data systems and reporting to HQ.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree or equivalent in a related allied health discipline.
  • Valid Ethiopian Professional Practicing License.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, including in tropical medicine, public health, or emergency settings.
  • Experience in staff supervision, coaching, and medical team management is highly preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Amharic reading/writing skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of Tigrinya and Somali is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and internet-based tools.
  • Familiarity with Epi-info, FUCHIA, or other health data systems is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong clinical judgment and mentorship ability.
  • Report writing and documentation skills are critical.
