Position: Health Officer / School Nurse
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in:
- Nursing
- Health Sciences
- Related fields
- Valid professional license/certification
- Previous experience working in a school or child-centered environment is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work calmly and professionally in emergency situations
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Compassionate, professional, and student-centered approach
- Good command of English and Amharic is preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and health-related incidents
- Monitor students who become ill during the school day
- Maintain accurate health and medical records for students
- Administer medication when authorized by parents and school procedures
- Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns when necessary
- Support health screenings and health awareness initiatives within the school
- Ensure that medical supplies and first aid equipment are maintained and available
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment
- Support school safeguarding, hygiene, and student wellbeing procedures
- Coordinate with school leadership regarding health and safety concerns
- Prepare health-related reports and documentation when required
