Bilal Microfinance Institution S.C. is a fully licensed interest-free microfinance institution operating under NBE Directive No. MFI/32/2021. Our mission is to deliver sharia-compliant, inclusive microfinance services that reach individuals and communities historically excluded from the financial system due to interest-based prohibitions.

POSITION SUMMARY – LEGAL EXPERT
Bilal Microfinance is seeking a qualified Legal Expert to join its team. The Legal Expert will support the institution’s legal and compliance functions, ensuring all operations meet regulatory and sharia standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advisory support on matters related to the institution’s microfinance operations.
- Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations and Islamic finance principles.
- Prepare, review, and interpret contracts, legal documents, and policies.
- Represent the institution in court and legal proceedings when necessary.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance practices and internal policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance and manage legal risks.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in financial services or microfinance.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, court systems, and legal ethics.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal compliance tools.
- Knowledge of sharia-compliant finance is highly desirable.
