In Ethiopia, GIZ collaborates on various projects that focus on energy, governance, agriculture, health, and economic development. One of its key initiatives is the Higher Tier Cooking Component (HTCC) — a clean cooking project implemented in partnership with the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), aiming to expand access to higher-tier clean cooking technologies and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Position: Intern – HTCC Clean Cooking Project

Are you a recent graduate with a strong interest in international development, African Union policies, or sustainable energy solutions? GIZ Ethiopia invites you to apply for a competitive internship program to gain hands-on experience in development cooperation, clean cooking technologies, and entrepreneurial support initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support project teams in research, reporting, communications, and partner engagement
• Conduct online research and synthesize policy documents and data
• Assist in content development, internal briefings, and public communication
• Help coordinate meetings, prepare presentations, and contribute to planning activities
• Engage in learning and development opportunities offered by GIZ teams

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, African Studies, or related fields
• Graduation must be within the last six months (mandatory for internship eligibility)
• Candidates must be legally eligible to reside and work in Ethiopia

Desired Competencies

• Strong proficiency in English; knowledge of other AU working languages is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Demonstrated research and analytical skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
• Team-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn
