About the National Bank of Ethiopia
Established in 1963 and operational since 1964, the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) serves as the country’s central bank with a vital mandate to regulate Ethiopia’s financial system and monetary policy. As Ethiopia’s financial sector continues rapid expansion, NBE is scaling its infrastructure and management capacity, including constructing new branches across the country. To support this growth, NBE seeks individual consultants for key positions under a World Bank-funded initiative.
Open Positions & Requirements
Position 1: Financial Management Specialist
Key Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance, or related field.
- At least 6 years of experience, including 4+ years working on World Bank-funded projects.
- Experience managing the World Bank’s Client Connection system.
- Preferred Certifications: CPA, ACCA, or CMA.
- Strong analytical, spreadsheet, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Amharic.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Position 2: Procurement Specialist
Key Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, including 5+ years in senior procurement roles with World Bank-financed projects.
- Deep knowledge of World Bank procurement guidelines and Ethiopian government procurement laws.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, report writing, and training facilitation.
- Strong fluency in English and Amharic.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Position 3: Manager, Project Implementation Unit (PIU)
Key Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public/Business Administration, or related fields.
- At least 10 years of project management experience, preferably in World Bank/donor-funded programs.
- Track record of coordinating with government agencies and financial institutions.
- In-depth knowledge of Ethiopia’s banking sector and regulatory environment.
- Strong leadership, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Advanced IT and project management software proficiency.
- Fluent in English and Amharic.
