The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2026 is a fully-funded scholarship program sponsored by the Korean government, providing international students with the opportunity to pursue graduate-level degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) or research programs in South Korea. Duration

- Fields include all disciplines relevant to the applicant’s academic background or research interest.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be an international student (non-Korean citizen)
- Be under 40 years of age at the time of application
- Master’s applicants: hold a Bachelor’s degree
- Ph.D. applicants: hold a Master’s degree
- Research program applicants: have an official invitation from a Korean university
- Not have previously received a GKS scholarship
- Be in good physical and mental health
- Both applicant and parents must be non-Korean citizens
Application Tracks
Embassy Track
- Apply through the Korean Embassy in your home country
- Can apply to multiple universities within limits
- First round evaluated by embassy; selected applicants submit original documents to NIIED for final approval
University Track
- Apply directly to a Korean university
- Only one university application allowed
- First round evaluated by university; selected applicants submit original documents to NIIED for final approval
Required Documents
- Recommendation letters
- Attested academic transcripts
- Statement of Purpose / Study Plan
- Awards and certificates (if applicable)
- Published books or research (if applicable)
- Certificate of Proficiency (language)
- Medical assessment form
How to Apply
- Choose your application track (Embassy or University Track)
- Complete the required application forms and upload documents
- Submit the application before the country-specific deadline
- If selected, submit original documents to NIIED (apostilled/consular confirmed)
- Wait for final approval and university placement
