About CECOE
The Coalition of Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations for Elections (CECOE) is a non-profit civil society organization established to strengthen citizen participation, democratic governance, election observation, and civic engagement across Ethiopia. CECOE is a member of regional and international election observation networks, including E-HORN, AfEONet, and GNDEM, working alongside partners to promote transparency, accountability, and democratic development.
Position Summary
CECOE is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Hub Interns to support Regional Hub Coordinators in project implementation, youth engagement, and civic participation activities. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates and final-year university students who are interested in community development, civic education, and youth empowerment. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to local initiatives and supporting regional hub operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project and Hub Support
- Assist Regional Hub Coordinators in implementing project activities.
- Support community mobilization and youth engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of regional hubs.
- Help organize events, meetings, and civic learning activities.
E-Learning and Youth Engagement
- Assist participants in accessing and utilizing e-learning platforms.
- Monitor participation and engagement in training programs.
- Support activities that encourage youth involvement in civic affairs.
- Maintain a welcoming and productive learning environment.
Administrative and Operational Tasks
- Prepare reports and maintain activity records.
- Conduct basic research and information gathering.
- Assist with office administration and coordination activities.
- Support monitoring and evaluation efforts when required.
Required Qualifications
Education
Applicants must:
- Be a recent university graduate or a final-year university student.
- Be studying or have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Political Science
- Civics and Ethical Studies
- Sociology
- Development Studies
- Public Administration
- Social Sciences
- Related fields
Experience
- No prior professional work experience is required.
- Participation in student unions, youth associations, peace clubs, volunteer programs, NGOs, or community organizations is highly desirable.
- Understanding of local youth issues and community dynamics is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to use online learning platforms and conduct internet research.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse youth groups.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in Amharic and the local language of the assigned region is mandatory.
- Good English communication skills are preferred.
Duty Stations
Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the following locations:
- Bahir Dar, Amhara Region
- Awash 7, Afar Region
- Adama, Oromia Region
- Assosa, Benishangul Gumuz Region
- Wolaita Sodo, South Ethiopia Region
