The Embassy operates an integrated team covering diplomatic, development, and corporate services functions.
Position Summary – Finance Analyst
The British Embassy is seeking an experienced, driven, and creative Finance Analyst to join its integrated team. The role involves working closely with programme managers and finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial management, robust forecasting, and compliance with corporate financial standards.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working collaboratively with programme/business managers and finance teams to deliver accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Ability to produce robust forecasts and provide clear resource-accounting insights.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence in explaining complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
- Experience reviewing financial systems, tools, and reporting processes to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and ad-hoc requests.
- Willingness to challenge assumptions and propose process improvements that strengthen financial control and decision-making.
- Demonstrated analytical capability with high attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, lookups, complex formulas, multi-sheet analysis).
- Previous experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, or resource accounting.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in the International Development or Humanitarian sector.
- Arabic language skills.
- Prior experience working on or in Sudan.
- Professional qualification (or studying towards) with one of the following bodies:
- ACCA
- CIPFA
- ICAEW
- ICAI
- ICAS
- CIMA
- AAT
- Or equivalent structured finance accreditation
