Position Overview: Script Writer (Comedy)
Abbay TV is seeking a creative and talented Script Writer specializing in comedy content. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing engaging, humorous, and original scripts for television and digital media productions.
The role requires strong storytelling skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with production teams while incorporating modern AI-assisted content development tools.
Key Responsibilities
Script Writing and Story Development
- Write, edit, and refine scripts for comedy shows and media programs
- Develop humorous storylines, relatable characters, and engaging punchlines
- Create strong hooks, cliffhangers, and entertaining sequences
Creative Planning and Production Support
- Support scene planning and visual storytelling concepts
- Maintain proper program flow and sequence continuity
- Adapt trending topics and everyday situations into comedic content
Collaboration and Content Optimization
- Work closely with actors, directors, and production teams
- Revise scripts based on production feedback and requirements
- Utilize AI tools and prompt development techniques to improve script quality and creativity
Quality Assurance
- Ensure scripts are original, engaging, accurate, and production-ready
- Meet content submission deadlines consistently
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven ability to write comedic content
- Experience in scriptwriting, directing, television, digital content creation, or film production
- Strong understanding of script structure, storytelling, and basic directing skills
- Fluency in both English and Amharic across speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills
- Ability to use AI tools effectively for script development and creative enhancement
- Strong creative thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to work under deadlines and production schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in comedy scriptwriting or media production is an advantage
