About the Bergel Institute

The Bergel Institute is dedicated to advancing human knowledge and improving the human condition. It provides year-long fellowships to individuals wishing to devote sustained time to meaningful projects aligned with the Institute’s focus areas. Fellows benefit from mentorship, structured progress tracking, and in-person presentations while receiving financial support.

Fellowship Benefits

1. Stipend: $30,000 for the fellowship year.
2. Travel & Lodging: Covered for required in-person meetings in Florida.
3. Structured Progress & Outputs: Fellows produce final work that may include manuscripts, business launches, video series, or documentaries.

Eligibility

• Open to applicants of any age from anywhere in the world.
• No degree requirement; undergraduate/graduate enrollment does not disqualify applicants.
• Applicants outside the U.S. must secure necessary visas/travel authorization for in-person meetings.

The Fellowships cover six main areas:

• Economics
• Science
• Technology
• Consciousness
• Health
• Culture

Applicants may select an existing Fellowship topic or propose a new one aligned with the Institute’s mission.

• FE1: Bringing an End to the Poverty–Violence Connection in the U.S.
• FE2: Building a Fully-Resourced Community
• FT1: Using AI to Expand Economic Opportunity
• FS1: Cutting Edge or Pseudoscience?

Time Commitment & Requirements

Time Commitment: ~1,000 hours across the year (~20 hours/week)

Meeting & Reporting Expectations:

• Monthly progress reports via video meetings with Institute leadership
• Quarterly progress conversations with three leadership members
• Two required in-person meetings in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

Post-Fellowship Mentorship:
Fellows are expected to mentor future fellows after completion.
