Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrated research and academic leadership
- Strong potential for success in their proposed research field
- Strong collaboration between the applicant, supervisor(s), and academic research environment
- A research project with potential to effectively apply AI research techniques
- A doctoral degree must have been completed by January 1, 2022, at the latest, according to the stated eligibility requirement
- International applicants must complete their PhD before the fellowship start date
- Canadian citizens and permanent residents must complete their PhD within six months of starting the fellowship
- Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in an eligible Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) field, such as mathematics or computer science
- The applicant must be eligible for a full-time appointment at the University of Toronto
- Where required, a co-supervisor with AI expertise may be necessary if the primary supervisor is new to the field
- Applicants cannot simultaneously hold another postdoctoral fellowship under the Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science program
