The University of Agder (UiA) invites international and domestic master’s students to apply for the University of Agder Scholarships 2027. The scholarship is designed for students whose master’s thesis incorporates themes related to equality, diversity, inclusion, or discrimination.

Administered by the Center for Gender and Equality, the program supports research that contributes to a deeper understanding of social inclusion and equality across all academic disciplines. Students from fields such as engineering, business, education, law, health sciences, technology, humanities, and social sciences are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Benefits

Selected students will receive:

  • Research grant of NOK 15,000
  • Academic mentoring and support opportunities
  • Participation in specialized writing seminars planned for 2027
  • Networking opportunities with academic staff and fellow grant recipients
  • Feedback and guidance on research development

Payment Structure

  • 50% of the grant is released once the student officially begins thesis work under an approved supervisor.
  • The remaining 50% is paid after successful submission and approval of the master’s thesis.

Important Note

This scholarship does not cover:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation expenses
  • Living expenses
  • Travel costs
  • Insurance

The funding is intended specifically as support for master’s thesis research.

One of the five available scholarships is specifically reserved for research focused on gender and sexual diversity.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the University of Agder Scholarships 2027, applicants must:

  • Be admitted to a Master’s Degree Program at the University of Agder.
  • Plan to submit their master’s thesis during the 2026–2027 academic year.
  • Demonstrate that their research meaningfully incorporates themes of equality, diversity, inclusion, or discrimination.
  • Meet the academic requirements of their respective master’s program.
  • Be able to provide proof of admission to the University of Agder.

Applicants from all academic disciplines are welcome to apply.

  • Proof of Admission to a Master’s Program at the University of Agder
  • Project Proposal (Maximum 3 Pages) including:
    • Research Problem
    • Theoretical Framework
    • Research Methodology
    • Project Timeline
  • Description of the Master’s Program
  • Explanation of the Thesis Topic
  • Explanation of how Equality, Diversity, or Inclusion Perspectives are incorporated into the research
  • Supervisor Information (may be submitted later if not yet confirmed)

How to Apply

Interested applicants should prepare a concise application explaining:

  • Their academic background
  • Their master’s program
  • Their research topic
  • The relevance of equality, diversity, inclusion, or discrimination within their thesis

Applicants must also submit a project description of up to three pages outlining the research objectives, methodology, framework, and timeline.

Since only five scholarships are available, applicants are encouraged to present strong academic projects with a clear and meaningful equality-related perspective
