Position: CFND-Intern, Economic Affairs
As a CFND-Intern at UNECA, you will have the unique opportunity to support efforts that promote the socioeconomic development and transformation of Africa through sustainable resource extraction and processing. This is a valuable opportunity for recent graduates or students with a passion for Africa’s development and the global green minerals boom.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. African Resource Outlook
    • Contribute to ongoing research and publications on Africa’s mineral resources and their role in development.
  2. Assistance on ECA Mineral Work
    • Assist with activities related to the African Mining Vision and the African Green Minerals Strategy.
    • Support activities that align with global frameworks such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (Master’s degree or higher) or be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of global and regional frameworks for sustainable development, including Agenda 2030, Africa Mining Vision, AfCFTA, and AU Agenda 2063.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a focus on economic affairs and sustainable development.
  • Familiarity with the mineral-based development challenges and opportunities in Africa is a plus.

Internship Details:

  • This is an unpaid internship; candidates are responsible for travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • Interns must arrange for their visa and work/employment authorization if not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken.
  • Successful candidates should discuss visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
