The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites qualified and motivated applicants to apply for the position of Intern – Governance and Rule of Law in Ethiopia.
UNDP is a global development organization operating in approximately 170 countries and territories, supporting efforts to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Ethiopia, UNDP has been active since 1981, supporting national development in poverty reduction, governance, and climate-resilient development.
Position: Intern – Governance and Rule of Law
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following academic conditions:
- Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (Master’s or higher), OR
- Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program, OR
- Recently graduated (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in fields such as:
- Governance
- Peace and Security
- Development Studies
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Public Policy
- Law
- Human Rights
- Related Social Science fields
- Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program
Experience
- No professional work experience is required
Key Competencies
- Strong interest in governance, peacebuilding, and rule of law
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office and related tools)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to write, edit, and proofread documents effectively
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of development and governance issues is an advantage
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English (required)
- Knowledge of French is an advantage
Duration
- Internship duration: 3 months (minimum)
Responsibilities
- Support governance and rule of law-related program activities
- Assist in research, documentation, and reporting
- Contribute to communication and knowledge-sharing tasks
- Support project coordination and administrative functions
- Engage with stakeholders and development partners when required
