Position: Trial Officer
As a Trial Officer, you will play a key role in supporting EthioChicken’s production team by conducting accurate trials, monitoring chick performance, ensuring strict biosecurity, and collecting high-quality data for operational improvements. This position is ideal for fresh graduates with a passion for animal science, poultry management, or veterinary practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct 7-day brooding trials for each hatch from the hatchery.
- Receive and manage day-old chicks four times per week.
- Label and track every hatch and pen for full traceability.
- Rear each hatch separately under uniform management and biosecurity.
- Weigh and count all birds on placement day (Day 0) and Day 7, recording performance.
- Monitor mortality, conduct postmortems, and share daily findings.
- Maintain pens, equipment, and records to the highest standards.
- Perform crop-fill checks at 2–4 hours and 24 hours post-placement.
- Supervise staff, enforce biosecurity (PPE, disinfection, visitor logs).
- Report and escalate operational or logistical issues.
- Ensure proper farm equipment maintenance and inventory.
- Follow directives from the Production Director and deliver reports using Microsoft Office tools.
Qualifications
- Education: BSc/BS or DVM in Animal Science, Poultry Science, or Veterinary Science.
- Experience: Fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply.
- Skills:
- Strong record-keeping and analytical skills.
- Clear communication in English (written & spoken).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with strict confidentiality.
- High commitment to biosecurity and safety protocols.
