The organization focuses on empowering the productive poor by providing access to financial services that support economic development and poverty reduction.
VisionFund currently operates across several regional states in Ethiopia, delivering microfinance services that support small businesses, farmers, and underserved communities.
Position: Senior Information Security Officer
VisionFund Microfinance is seeking a qualified Senior Information Security Officer to strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity framework and protect critical information systems. The role involves managing IT security risks, implementing security controls, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and financial sector regulations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding digital assets and supporting secure financial service delivery.
Required Education and Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
Professional training in cybersecurity and information security management
Preferred Professional Certifications
- The following certifications are considered an added advantage:
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer or ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor
Experience Requirements
Minimum of five years of experience in information security, IT risk management, or IT audit
Experience working in the banking or financial services sector is highly desirable
Hands-on experience with security technologies including SIEM systems, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, encryption, data loss prevention (DLP), and identity and access management (IAM) solutions
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and banking regulatory requirements
- Ability to design and implement information security architectures and controls
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High integrity and professional ethics
