About SBW Berlin International Scholarships

The SBW Berlin International Scholarships 2026 aim to support talented international students from around the world who lack financial resources. The program allows students to pursue undergraduate or master’s degrees in Berlin or Potsdam, Germany, while contributing to non-profit projects in their home countries. The scholarship is designed to provide financial stability, access to world-class education, and the development of leadership skills to strengthen students’ countries.

A total of 20 scholarships will be awarded, covering tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, enabling students to focus on their studies and social impact initiatives.

Financial Benefits

The scholarship covers the following expenses:

  • Full tuition fees at the selected university
  • Shared accommodation
  • Monthly living allowance
  • Travel allowance in certain cases

Duration: Up to 48 months, depending on the degree program

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the SBW Berlin International Scholarships 2026, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of countries in need of development assistance
  • Homeless foreigners or recognized refugees
  • Hold an EU long-term resident permit (if applicable)
  • Be 18–30 years old
  • Maintain an average grade equivalent to at least 2.0 in the German grading system
  • Have no first-degree family members residing in Germany
  • Provide proof of low household income
  • Not be funded by other organizations or governments to study in Germany

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Copy of degree certificate from the last attended school/college
  • Academic transcript with detailed grades
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Motivation letter (maximum 2 pages)
  • Updated CV
  • Proof of low household income
  • Admission letter from the intended university in Berlin or Potsdam
  • Certificates of achievements

Scholarship Terms & Termination

  • Scholarships may be terminated if a student fails or postpones three exams
  • Failure to achieve targets in the non-profit project may also lead to termination
  • After graduation, students must report to SBW Berlin and submit all academic records and certificates
