About Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan’s Purse is an international humanitarian aid organization providing emergency relief and development assistance in crisis-affected regions. In Ethiopia, Samaritan’s Purse is delivering critical medical care, including maternal and reproductive health services through its Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) in Tigray.
Position Summary
The Midwife will provide reproductive and maternal healthcare within the Samaritan’s Purse MMU Program. The role includes prenatal and postnatal care, delivery assistance, health education, and coordination with community health workers to identify and support pregnant and postpartum women. This position demands strong clinical knowledge, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations in crisis-affected areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver reproductive healthcare and treatment following SP and national protocols
- Conduct consultations, ANC/PNC visits, and health education sessions
- Work with CHWs to identify and follow up with pregnant and postpartum women
- Monitor patient progress, refer when necessary, and ensure proper clinical documentation
- Maintain hygiene, infection prevention, and data reporting standards
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to senior health officials
- Ensure patient confidentiality and cultural sensitivity
- Participate in daily devotions and contribute to SP’s ministry vision
Required Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Midwifery from a recognized institution
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in hospital or clinic settings, preferably in low-resource areas
- Languages: Proficiency in Tigrigna and English required
