JOB POSITION & REQUIREMENTS
Position:1. Business Intelligence (Power BI)
Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions, support data analytics platforms, and conduct unit testing and troubleshooting. As an ideal candidate.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership:
- Develop, maintain and support ETL processes using tools such as Microsoft SSIS
- Create reports and extracts from Oracle Database and other disparate data sources.
- Create outstanding Dashboards and Reports using Power BI and other BI tools.
- Develop high availability and highly scalable reports.
- Ensure reports are released properly, and each release is documented
- Translate business requirements and problems into innovative technical solutions
- Participate in user research and usability testing to help improve the user experience
- Create and maintain unit and functional tests
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Proven experience as a BI Developer
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modelling) and data mining
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
- Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
- Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field
Position:2. Database Administrator
The position holder will provide Administration, Performance tuning, Capacity planning, management, and 3rd line support of ALL Safaricom Enterprise Database (DB) Systems that include DBs for Oracle e-Business Suite (ERP), Business Intelligence (BI) Systems, Customer value management, Fraud Management, Revenue Assurance, eKYC (Know Your Customer) and all other IT database systems. The databases span from Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Hadoop related database platforms.
Position holder will provide operational support and monitoring of the entire Data Center Database platforms for the business.
Professional Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or Electrical Engineering Field.
- With at least 3 years’ hands on Experience in managing busy database environments.
- 3+ Years Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MSSQL database administration required and other Opensource Databases.
- Experience in Oracle RAC, Dataguard, RMAN and Engineered systems.
- Experience in Linux/Unix and Windows Server Operating system.
- Database Systems Administration Techniques – understanding of DB Performance tuning on various Operating Systems, good troubleshooting skills, Database Migration, and ILM techniques.
- Attention to details and analytical thinking.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently.
- Strong written and oral capability.

- 3+ years of EXADATA administration

- Willing to learn about new technologies.
- Knowledge about Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, OCI &/or Azure)
Position:3. Data Analyst
Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions, support data analytics platforms, and conduct unit testing and troubleshooting. As an ideal candidate.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership:
- Clean, and analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business improvements.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Power BI) to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into data requirements.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to address specific business questions and challenges.
- Create and maintain documentation for data processes, methodologies, and analytical frameworks.
- Assist in training team members on BI tools and best practices for data analysis.
- Create compelling visual representations of data to effectively communicate insights and findings to stakeholders.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data analytics projects.

- Proven experience as a BI Data Analyst
- Industry experience is preferred.
