The Ethiopia Country Office implements projects that strengthen the eye care system across the country through local partnerships and sustainable interventions.

Job Summary

Orbis International Ethiopia is recruiting Project Coordinators (2) for its new initiative: “Establishing Comprehensive Secondary Eye Care Unit in Southwest Ethiopia”, based in Bonga and Mizan Teferi. The coordinators will oversee the full project cycle, including planning, stakeholder engagement, implementation, reporting, financial and resource management, procurement, and outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as liaison between Orbis, local hospitals, the Regional Health Bureau, and local government offices.
  • Organize biannual partnership meetings and facilitate site visits by donors and stakeholders.

Project Planning & Implementation

  • Develop detailed annual and quarterly work plans aligned with project goals.
  • Collaborate with hospital leaders and Eye Care Units for effective execution.
  • Support training and capacity building for healthcare professionals.

Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Submit comprehensive reports (monthly to annually) to the Project Manager.
  • Document best practices, success stories, and maintain all project documentation.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage petty cash, ensure timely settlements, and prevent resource misuse.

Service Delivery & Community Outreach

  • Coordinate school screening and outreach services.
  • Implement eye health education and patient referral tracking systems.

Procurement & Logistics

  • Participate in procurement planning with hospitals and Orbis operations.
  • Ensure timely equipment delivery, customs clearance, and GRN submissions.

Administration & Operational Support

  • Adhere to timesheet, fleet, and security protocols.
  • Support the Orbis Project Manager and hospital teams on project-related tasks.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in an eye health-related field required
  • MPH or related public health qualification is an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in secondary/tertiary eye care settings
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience in eye care project coordination
  • NGO experience is an added advantage

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and reporting skills (English proficiency required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet tools
  • Ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders
  • Local language proficiency is a plus
  • Willingness to travel and work with minimal supervision
