The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Horn of Africa Multi-Country Office (HAMCO) provides technical expertise and operational support to governments and development partners across Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Djibouti.
Aligned with national priorities and the UN Delivery as One initiative, UNOPS HAMCO delivers sustainable infrastructure, procurement, project management, and advisory services.
To strengthen its capacity, UNOPS HAMCO is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Programme Management Intern based in Addis Ababa. Qualified women and candidates from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position: Programme Management Intern – Project & Operations Support
The intern will support programme management functions, gain practical experience in UN project operations, and contribute to effective delivery of services in the Horn of Africa.
Key Responsibilities (Learning Areas)
- Support programme and project management processes.
- Assist with project documentation, reporting, and coordination.
- Contribute to research, data analysis, and knowledge management.
- Gain exposure to procurement, logistics, and operational workflows.
- Provide administrative and technical assistance to the team.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Health, Social Studies, Development Studies, or related field.
- Applicants must have graduated within the last three (3) years from the start date of the internship.
Work Experience
- No prior work experience is required.
- Demonstrated interest in international development, programme management, or project operations is an advantage.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of computers and office software (especially Google Suite) is an asset.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
