About National ID Ethiopia
National ID Ethiopia is implementing a robust national digital identification system that provides secure, real-time biometric authentication and electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) services. The program supports government institutions, businesses, and citizens by enabling trusted digital identity verification and enhancing access to services across the country.
The National ID Program is playing a key role in Ethiopia’s digital transformation agenda by strengthening identity management systems and promoting secure digital service delivery.
Position: Legal Intern
The National ID Program is seeking three highly motivated Legal Interns to join its legal and policy team on a voluntary basis. Selected candidates will gain hands-on experience working on legal and regulatory issues related to digital identity, data protection, privacy, and public sector innovation.
This internship offers an excellent opportunity for recent law graduates who are interested in technology law, public policy, and digital governance.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- LLB Degree in Law.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Interest in digital identity systems, data protection, privacy, and public policy.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and professional environment.
- Commitment to volunteer service throughout the internship period.
Key Responsibilities
Selected interns will be responsible for:
- Conducting legal research and analysis on digital identity, data protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance issues.
- Assisting in the drafting and review of agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and policy documents.
- Participating in project meetings, workshops, stakeholder consultations, and policy discussions.
- Supporting documentation, reporting, and knowledge management activities within the legal and policy team.
- Contributing to the development of legal frameworks that support Ethiopia’s digital identity ecosystem.
