About MERSA Media Institute
MERSA Media Institute is a nonprofit media policy think tank committed to promoting vibrant, responsible, and independent media across Africa. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the institute works primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, with a strong focus on Ethiopia.
MERSA supports media institutions, professional unions, and journalism education centers through research, capacity building, and institutional development. The organization believes that free and independent media are essential for the advancement of peaceful, democratic, and prosperous societies.
Available Positions
1. Project Associate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Business Administration, Medicine, IT, or other relevant fields.
- Prior experience in a non-profit or development organization is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be willing to live and work in Woldiya, North Wollo.

2. Finance and HR Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related fields.
- Proven experience managing both finance and HR functions in a non-profit organization.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and local labor laws.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and HR software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
- Ability to live and work in Woldiya, North Wollo.
Location: Woldiya
3. Project Manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Communications, or related fields.
- Proven experience working with NGOs or civil society organizations.
- Strong project management background, including planning, implementation, and M&E.
- Familiarity with local norms and culture in Woldiya region.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Amharic.
- Ability to live and work in Woldiya, North Wollo.
