Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry S.C., formerly known as Kadisco Chemical Industry PLC, is a privately owned manufacturing company located in the Akaki Kality Industrial Zone, Addis Ababa.
The company produces a wide range of paints for the construction, industrial, and automotive sectors, as well as wood and concrete lacquers and adhesives used in the wood and leather industries.
Position: Production Intern
The Production Intern will support production planning, shop floor operations, quality processes, inventory management, safety activities, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is particularly suitable for fresh graduates who want to build practical experience in a manufacturing and chemical production environment.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- 0–1 year of experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organizational abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Production Intern will support activities related to:
Production Planning and Operations
- Assist with preparing daily production schedules and machine-specific production plans.
- Support the achievement of monthly production targets and daily production outputs.
- Monitor production activities and support timely delivery of made-to-order products.
- Assist in allocating work to foremen and operators.
- Support routine production operations and shop floor activities.
- Participate in daily production planning meetings.
- Support manpower allocation, machine utilization, and plant capacity utilization.
- Assist with trial batch scheduling and production-related decision-making.
Quality and Process Control
- Ensure production activities follow approved standard operating procedures.
- Support key process controls and in-process quality checks.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Support Kaizen activities and productivity improvement programs.
- Assist with QRI, RFT, and raw material variance reduction initiatives.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of production-related documentation.
Inventory and Record Keeping
- Monitor raw material additions and consumption.
- Support the use of existing raw materials and finished goods.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records.
- Participate in quarterly stock-taking activities.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and records.
- Support data collection, reporting, and production performance monitoring.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Support implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Assist with safety training, campaigns, and awareness activities.
- Support proper segregation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Assist in preparing incident, near-miss, and proactive safety reports.
- Support the achievement of organizational health and safety objectives.
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards on the shop floor.
Documentation and Compliance
The successful candidate may support documentation and compliance activities related to:
- SOPs
- FMEA
- HIRA
- ISO 14001
- ISO 9001:2015
- ISO 45001:2018
- CAPA
- Production records
- EHS documentation
