Position: Intern – Translation and Evaluation
Are you passionate about sustainable development, language services, and gaining international experience? GGGI invites motivated individuals to support its operations through translation and evaluation assignments, contributing to real-time development work.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate documents between English and a local language (Afaan Oromoo or Sidaamu Afoo).
- Support internal communication tasks and assist with reporting requirements.
- Contribute to evaluation-related documentation and knowledge management.
- Assist project teams in maintaining translation accuracy, style, and tone.
- Perform administrative and coordination tasks, as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s or PhD program in Languages, Business Administration, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in English and at least one local language (Afaan Oromoo or Sidaamu Afoo) — both written and spoken.
- Previous experience or coursework in translation/interpretation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with business planning and development terminology is a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in multicultural team environments.
Terms & Conditions
- Duration: 3 to 6 months. Internship must start before or within 12 months of graduation.
- Stipend: $500/month (unless funded externally).
- Visa Support: GGGI will provide a visa support letter, but applicants are responsible for visa costs.
- Travel & Accommodation: Self-funded.
- Medical Insurance: Proof of coverage required upon contract.
- Confidentiality: Interns must maintain confidentiality on all work materials.
- Working Hours: Full-time hours; any leave must be pre-approved.
- Certificate & Learning Outcomes: Available upon successful completion.
