Independent News & Media Plc is the publisher of Fortune Ethiopia, a leading English-language business weekly newspaper. The company focuses on investigative journalism, business reporting, advertising, and media distribution services.
It is currently recruiting fresh and experienced professionals for editorial and design roles.
POSITION 1: REPORTER
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Strong passion for journalism and long-term commitment to the profession
- Excellent command of the English language
- Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
Key Responsibilities
- Write investigative, feature, and analytical news stories
- Produce approximately 5 original news articles per week
- Research and understand business and economic developments
- Work under strict editorial deadlines
- Communicate effectively with editors and respond to feedback
- Contribute to accurate and reliable journalism for print and digital platforms
POSITION 2: GRAPHICS DESIGNER
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Proven experience as a Graphics Designer or similar role
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and design skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related fields
- Experience in motion graphics or video editing
- Familiarity with UX/UI design principles
Key Responsibilities
- Create visual content for digital and print media
- Design marketing materials, social media content, and website graphics
- Collaborate with marketing and editorial teams
- Maintain and improve brand consistency
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously
- Update designs based on feedback and trends
