Position: Assistant Accountant
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Accounting & Finance.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year as an Accountant or Assistant Accountant.
Core Competencies:
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Strong understanding of financial record-keeping and reconciliation.
- Integrity, accountability, and commitment to Habitat’s mission.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic accounting software.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record-Keeping
- Maintain and update accounting records, including payables, receivables, and ledgers.
- Assist in verifying and reconciling financial transactions and journal entries.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Process invoices, expense claims, and vendor payments in a timely and compliant manner.
- Review and verify supporting documents for accuracy and policy compliance.
3. Cash and Bank Management
- Support bank reconciliation and cash register maintenance.
- Manage petty cash and ensure timely payment of statutory taxes.
- Handle cheque follow-ups and vendor communication.
4. Financial Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and audit requirements.
- Organize, archive, and digitally store all financial documents for easy access.
5. Administrative & Safeguarding Support
- Provide administrative assistance to the Finance Manager.
- Plan and implement activities in line with safeguarding standards and risk mitigation measures.
