The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) offers fully funded opportunities for professionals from developing countries to study at top-tier universities across the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan. This life-changing program empowers future leaders to gain world-class education in development-related fields and return home to contribute to national progress.

 JJ/WBGSP 2025 Eligibility

You must:

  •  Be a national of a World Bank member developing country

  • Not hold dual citizenship with any developed country

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (earned at least 3 years prior)

  • Have 3+ years of full-time, paid development-related work experience

  • Be admitted to a participating university program

  •  Not be an employee or relative of World Bank Group staff Applicants from Fragile or Conflict States may be eligible with fewer work years.

                                           How to Apply 

Step 1: Get Admitted to a Participating Program

  • Choose from the eligible list of universities and apply

  • Must secure unconditional admission (except funding)

Step 2: Wait for Shortlisting

  • Only shortlisted candidates get access to the scholarship application link

Step 3: Submit Scholarship Application

  • Upload required docs:

    • Admission letter

    • Academic transcripts

    • Proof of employment

    • Recommendation letters

  • Fragile state backgrounds
