About Ethiopian Railways Corporation

Ethiopian Railways Corporation (ERC), commonly known as Ethiopian Railway, is the national railway corporation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Corporation operates under the regulation of the Ministry of Transport and is responsible for railway infrastructure development as well as passenger and freight rail transportation services.

Ethiopian Railways Corporation was established on November 20, 2007, under Council of Ministers Regulation No. 141/2007. The Corporation’s mandate includes developing railway infrastructure and providing passenger and freight transportation services in Ethiopia.

The following positions are currently available:

Position 1: Store Keeper

Educational Qualification: Diploma / Level IV

Required Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience working in a construction project.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and organize inventory.
• Inspect incoming shipments.
• Monitor stock levels.
• Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Support effective store and material management.

Position 2: Level Man

Educational Qualification: Diploma / Level IV in Surveying

Required Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience as a Level Man in road construction.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret construction maps.
• Collect and interpret surveying data accurately.
• Operate manual and digital levels.
• Support surveying and setting-out activities.
• Ensure accuracy of measurements and field data.

Position 3: Office Engineer

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Required Experience:

• 4 years of general professional experience.
• 2 years of experience as an Office Engineer in a road construction project.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare working drawings and templates.
• Perform quantity surveying activities.
• Prepare master work plans.
• Prepare daily and monthly reports.
• Coordinate project documentation and technical activities.
• Use Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Primavera, and MS Project.

Position 4: Senior Structural Engineer

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering

Required Experience:

• 6 years of general professional experience.
• 3 years of experience as a Senior Structural Engineer in a bridge project.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate construction sites.
• Review detailed structural drawings.
• Approve technical reports.
• Support bridge structural design and construction.
• Review structural engineering work for compliance with project requirements.
• Use engineering software including CSI Bridge, SAP2000, Revit, and CAD.

Position 5: Senior Site Engineer

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Required Experience:

• 6 years of general professional experience.
• 4 years of specific experience in a road construction project.

• Interpret advanced construction drawings and plans.
• Conduct surveying and setting-out activities.
• Monitor quality and material control.

Position 6: Senior Office Engineer

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Required Experience:

• 6 years of general professional experience.
• 3 years of proven specific experience as a Senior Office Engineer in a road construction project.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare working drawings and templates.
• Develop master work plans.
• Prepare daily and monthly project reports.
• Support project planning and documentation.
• Perform quantity-related technical activities.
• Use Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Primavera, and MS Project.

Position 7: Store Head

Educational Qualification: BA in Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field

Required Experience:

• 6 years of general professional experience.
• 3 years of experience as a Store Head in a project.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage project stores and inventory.
• Supervise store activities and personnel.
• Maintain inventory records.
• Control incoming and outgoing materials.
• Ensure proper document control.
• Coordinate store management activities with project teams.

Position 8: Senior Surveyor

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Construction Management, or related field

Required Experience:

• 6 years of general experience in surveying work.
• 3 years of experience as a Senior Surveyor in road construction.

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret construction maps.

• Operate total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels.
• Support construction setting-out and measurement activities.

• 4 years of experience as a Construction Engineer in a road construction project.

• Manage construction project progress.
• Prepare and monitor work schedules.

Position 10: Office Engineer Head

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering

Required Experience:

• 8 years of general professional experience.
• 4 years of proven specific experience as a Senior Office Engineer in a road construction project.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise surveying teams.
• Read and interpret construction maps.
• Ensure accurate collection and interpretation of survey data.
• Operate and supervise the use of total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and digital levels.
• Coordinate surveying activities with construction teams.
• Ensure accurate setting-out and measurement work.

Position 12: Project Manager

Educational Qualification: BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering

Required Experience:

• 12 years of general professional experience.
• 4 years of proven experience as a Project Manager on a road construction project.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide project leadership and management.
• Prepare project reports and plans.
• Manage construction schedules.
• Support budgeting and cost control.
• Coordinate project resources and activities.
• Monitor project progress and performance.

Position 13: Purchaser

Educational Qualification: MA/BA degree in Purchasing and Supply Management, Economics, Accounting, or a related field

Position 14: Safety Expert II

Educational Qualification: MSc/BSc degree in Railway, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field

Salary: ETB 20,369.00

Place of Work: Project

Job Responsibilities:

• Support occupational health and safety activities.
• Monitor safety requirements on project sites.
• Help identify and control workplace hazards.
• Promote compliance with applicable safety procedures.
• Support safe construction practices across project activities.
