ABOUT ESX

The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) is Ethiopia’s first and only organized securities exchange. Established as a public-private partnership under the Capital Market Proclamation No.1248/2021, ESX functions as a central market organizer and Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO). ESX provides an integrated trading platform across equities, fixed income, and money markets—paving the way for a vibrant, transparent, and accessible capital market ecosystem in Ethiopia.

ABOUT THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM (YPP)

The ESX Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a 12-month, hands-on training initiative for highly motivated recent graduates. It is designed to build capacity in capital markets, exchange operations, policy development, regulation, financial analysis, technology, and communications.

This is a non-renewable opportunity that does not guarantee employment at ESX after completion—but it positions participants for top roles within Ethiopia’s emerging capital markets ecosystem and other financial institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY

Academic Background:

• Bachelor’s degree (earned within the last 2 years) in:
  • Economics,
  • Engineering,
  • Architecture,
  • IT, Computer Science,
  • Statistics,
  • Mathematics,
  • or related fields.
• Minimum CGPA:
  • 3.25 (general)
  • 3.00 (female applicants, to promote gender inclusion)

Additional Consideration for Applicants with:

• Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or Visual Communication background
• Up to 2 years of relevant work experience
• Strong analytical, numerical, or design/digital communication skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participants will support various ESX departments with tasks such as:

• Market research & financial data analysis
• Listing & trading operations
• Policy development & stakeholder engagement
• Report and dashboard creation
• Investor education initiatives
• Cross-functional project support

For Tech Backgrounds:

• Assist with system performance, automation, scripting (Python, SQL, JavaScript)
• Explore blockchain and digital infrastructure

For Designers & Communicators:

• Create infographics, social media content, brochures, and investor education materials using tools like Adobe Suite, Canva, or Figma
