About the Organization
The Embassy of Ireland has maintained diplomatic relations with Ethiopia since 1994. Ireland’s engagement in Ethiopia focuses on promoting a secure, just, fair, and sustainable world through development cooperation, governance support, climate resilience, humanitarian assistance, and gender equality initiatives.
The Embassy is currently seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and experienced professional to join its team as a Programme Support Manager (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning – MEAL).
Position: Programme Support Manager (MEAL)
Essential Requirements
- Post-graduate qualification in:
- Development Studies
- Programme Management
- Related fields
- Minimum of:
- 7 years of relevant programme management/support experience
- 5 years at middle management level within development or humanitarian organizations
- Fluency in English is mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Developing and managing MEAL systems
- Monitoring project progress and cross-team learning
- Strategic planning and evaluation systems
- Financial analysis and budget management
- Governance, gender equality, and human rights programming
- Programme implementation in humanitarian or development contexts
- Strong understanding of:
- Political economy of Ethiopia
- Socio-cultural environment in Addis Ababa
- Horn of Africa governance and development issues
- Experience in priority sectors such as:
- Private sector development
- Climate resilience
- Gender
- Governance
- Excellent:
- Communication skills
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in:
- MS Word
- Excel
- Outlook
- PowerPoint
- Additional IT/data applications is advantageous
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently, including remote areas
- Must have legal authorization to live and work in Ethiopia before recruitment
Desirable Requirements

- MEAL
- Knowledge management
- Familiarity with:
- Effective aid delivery principles and practices
Salary & Benefits
Salary
- Base salary for Grade 1:
€2681.13 per month paid in local currency
Working Hours
- Monday – Thursday:
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday:
- 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Leave Entitlement
- 20 working days annual leave per year
Contract Details
- 2-year contract
- 60 working days probation period
