The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) is an autonomous Federal Regulatory Authority, established under the Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021. ECMA’s mission is to create a fair, transparent, and efficient capital market that supports Ethiopia’s economic transformation by enabling responsible securities issuance, trading, and investor protection.
Through this Internship Program, ECMA provides a unique opportunity for recent graduates to explore the dynamics of capital markets while contributing to high-impact research, regulatory analysis, and policy innovation.
Internship Objectives
This internship aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world capital market practice by immersing selected graduates in:
- Market research and documentation
- Regulatory development support
- Market supervision and reporting
- Capacity building initiatives
- Licensing, registration, and investigation efforts
Interns will also gain mentorship, professional exposure, and certificate credentials while contributing meaningfully to Ethiopia’s emerging capital markets.
Who Can Apply
- Recent BA graduates in Economics, Accounting, or Finance
- Must reside in Addis Ababa
- Commitment: Minimum 35 hours/week during the internship period
- CGPA: 3.25 and above
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest in capital markets, regulation, or finance
- Basic proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Ability to conduct research, organize findings, and report clearly
- Proficiency in using email and internet tools
- Ability to participate in field data collection and surveys
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in data collection via surveys, interviews, or observation
- Conduct research and review documentation on capital market topics
- Record and organize data using ECMA’s templates and tools
- Prepare and submit findings in a timely manner
- Support the department’s activities in regulation, supervision, and capacity building
- Participate in regular meetings, briefings, and learning sessions
