As part of the Droga Group, EMA Import and Export Pvt. Ltd. Co. supports Ethiopia’s economic development through agricultural exports, commercial farming, agro-processing, and import substitution initiatives aimed at increasing foreign currency earnings.
The company is currently seeking a qualified and motivated Accountant to join its finance team.
Position: Accountant
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience working in Import and Export companies is highly preferred
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing the full Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier and customer transactions
- Reconciling vendor statements and resolving payment discrepancies
- Maintaining complete and audit-ready accounting records
- Managing petty cash establishment, replenishment, and reconciliation
- Processing VAT, withholding tax, and other tax payments in compliance with regulations
- Monitoring prepayments and advance payments
- Processing employee expense reimbursements and member advances
- Responding to supplier inquiries regarding payments and account balances
- Preparing Accounts Payable reports, including aging reports and cash requirement reports
- Supporting month-end closing activities and journal entries
- Processing customer invoices, credit notes, and account statements
- Recording cash, bank transfer, cheque, and credit sales in the ERP system
- Monitoring customer credit limits and overdue accounts
- Reconciling withholding tax receivables with the general ledger
- Following up on outstanding customer balances and initiating collection activities
- Preparing Accounts Receivable reports, collection forecasts, and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) reports
- Processing approved bad debt provisions and write-offs
