About DESY Summer Student Program
The DESY Summer Student Program 2026 invites applications from international students interested in gaining hands-on research experience in one of Germany’s leading scientific institutions. DESY offers a fully funded international summer program for undergraduate and early master’s students across various academic backgrounds.
The program provides a unique opportunity to engage in advanced research, professional development activities, and cultural experiences in either Hamburg or Zeuthen. Approximately 100 students will be selected from around the world.
IELTS or TOEFL scores are not required. Participants must be available for the full 7-week duration.
Program Details
Financial Benefits
Selected students will receive full financial support, including:
- Monthly subsistence allowance of €1,200
- Travel cost coverage
- Accommodation support (through allowances)
- Full participation in academic and cultural activities
DESY covers all major expenses for the 100 selected students.
Internship Duration
The program will run from 21 July to 10 September 2026. All selected students must attend for the entire period.

- Two recommendation letters
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the DESY Summer Student Program 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a foreign national
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree and be in the first year of a master’s program
- Applicants who already hold a master’s degree or will obtain one in 2024 are not eligible
- Must not have previously participated in the DESY Summer Student Program
- Should have a good command of English
- Basic computing skills are required
