Position Summary:
As Clearing and Reconciliation Officer II, you will be at the core of Ethiopia’s digital payment backbone. You will manage daily clearing and settlement operations, generate settlement instructions, and provide reconciliation reports that ensure accuracy, transparency, and operational reliability across multiple payment channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily end-of-day settlement processes for various channels
- Generate Net Settlement Instructions (NSIs) to ensure timely transaction processing
- Produce clearing, settlement, and reconciliation reports for participant financial institutions
- Utilize EthioRecon tool for reconciliation and reporting
- Monitor and resolve unsettled transactions
- Maintain documentation and prepare datasets for internal and external reporting
- Assist senior staff in data analysis and operational optimization
- Handle inquiries related to clearing and settlement issues from member institutions
- Monitor delays in POS clearing file submissions and generate outgoing POS files
- Compile periodic and ad hoc reports for stakeholders and regulators
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department
What You Need to Succeed:
- Education: BA in Accounting, Economics, Management, or related fields
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in clearing, reconciliation, or financial operations
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with payment systems and clearing/settlement processes
- Experience using reconciliation software/tools (EthioRecon preferred)
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Communication: Proficient in handling stakeholder inquiries and producing clear documentation
