We are currently hiring for two vital positions: Welder S1 and Head of Protocol EO. Join us to contribute to the Embassy’s operational excellence and diplomatic mission in Ethiopia.

Position 1: Welder S1 – Technical Team Support

Are you a skilled welder with experience in infrastructure and metalwork? The British Embassy invites you to join its technical team, contributing to maintenance and structural projects critical to embassy operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute welding and metalwork tasks across workshops and construction sites (90%)
  • Support safety assessments and maintain a secure working environment (10%)

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Certified welder from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on welding experience
  • Auto-grade valid driving license
  • Fluent in both English and Amharic
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and operate dangerous equipment with precision

Position 2: Head of Protocol EO – Diplomatic and Operational Support

Do you have expertise in protocol, facilitation, or government liaison roles? As Head of Protocol, you will lead a dynamic team ensuring smooth diplomatic operations, consignment clearance, and VIP coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Protocol team’s daily activities
  • Oversee consular facilitation: visas, diplomatic ID cards, vehicle registration, etc.
  • Represent the Embassy during VIP visits and official protocols
  • Liaise with government offices and improve service delivery

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • College diploma or degree in a business-related field
  • 5+ years of experience in protocol or government facilitation roles
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and digital communications
  • Valid 3rd grade (or equivalent) driving license
  • Fluent in Amharic and English
  • Willingness to work during late hours, weekends, and holidays
