ABOUT AHRI
Founded in 1970 and named after Dr. Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen—the Norwegian physician who discovered the leprosy bacillus—Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) is a pioneering biomedical research center under the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. AHRI is recognized for its impactful clinical trials, research excellence, and strong partnerships that have shaped healthcare policy and innovation across Ethiopia and beyond. The institute continues to lead in public health transformation through rigorous scientific research and capacity building.
POSITION: Assistant Researcher
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the implementation of clinical research protocols in hospital settings
- Conduct patient monitoring and support data collection processes
- Ensure ethical and accurate data entry and documentation
- Work under GCP (Good Clinical Practice) conditions
- Collaborate with hospital staff and research supervisors
- Participate in regular training and capacity-building sessions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: BSc in Nursing or Public Health from a recognized university
- GPA Requirement:
- Minimum GPA of 3.00 for male applicants
- Minimum GPA of 2.75 for female applicants
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of clinical work experience required
- Prior experience in research or clinical trials is an added advantage
- Licensing: Valid professional medical license
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with clinical research or trials
- Experience working under Good Clinical Practice (GCP) conditions
- Competence in data collection, entry, and management
- Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability to hospital environments
- Willingness to relocate to assigned regions for the duration of the contract
WORK LOCATIONS
Selected candidates will be deployed to one of the following 24 hospitals across Ethiopia:
- Addis Ababa: Ras Desta Damtew General Hospital, Zewditu General Hospital
- Oromia: Melka Oda, Bishoftu, Batu, Wolisso, Tulu Bolo, Jimma Shanan Gibe General Hospitals
- Central Ethiopia Region: Ginka, Worabe, Dr. Bogalech Memorial, Butagira General Hospitals
- South West Ethiopia Region: Bonga General Hospital
- Sidama Region: Adare, Tula, Yirgalem General Hospitals
- Amhara Region: Hakim Gizaw General Hospital
- Somali Region: Karamara General Hospital
- Benishangul Gumuz: Assosa General Hospital
- Harari: Gegol General Hospital
- Dire Dawa: Sabian General Hospital
- Afar Region: Asaita General Hospital
- Tigray Region: Adigudem Primary Hospital, Wukro General Hospital
