JOB POSITION & REQUIREMENTS
The World Bank Ethiopia Country Office is hiring Ethiopia. The positions are based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and open to Ethiopian nationals.
The World Bank on-going energy portfolio and pipeline of projects in Ethiopia include support for power sector reforms; investment projects on power transmission, distribution, and grid electrification; solar mini grids & standalone solar systems for households and communities; clean cooking and improved cook stoves; and interconnection with neighboring countries as part of the efforts to bring Ethiopia connected to the regional electricity network.
Position 1: Associate/Operations Officer
Selection Criteria
• Masters degree in a relevant field, International Development, Finance, Economics, Business.
• At least five years of relevant experience in operations, project management, and working in a challenging business environment including refugee situations and/or conflict affected countries will be a distinct advantage.
• Self-starter, mature and flexible personality; able to work in a multicultural, fast-paced team environment.
• A team player with outstanding people management skills, ability to work with colleagues from different teams who are not reporting to him/her and achieve outstanding results while meeting tight deadline and maintaining strong client service orientation.
• Strong analytical and presentation skills working with data using standard office software Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with IFC Investment and/or Advisory processes.
Technical experience and expertise:
• Demonstrated thematic knowledge on private sector development in FCS and a solid operational experience in FCS markets in Africa
• Knowledge and experience with IFCs investment and advisory processes.
• Demonstrated experience in managing IFC advisory programs including PSR and CN development.
Position 2: Digital Development Specialist
Selection Criteria:
• Master’s degree in telecommunications, engineering, computer science, law, economics, public policy or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in ICT / Digital Economy policy and regulation and/or ICT / Digital Economy project design and implementation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent conceptual and analytical skills, including ability to think strategically and innovatively about the role of digital technologies for socio-economic development and for transformation in other sectors of the economy. Specific technical knowledge on sector issues spanning digital infrastructure, digital ID, platforms, e-services and data-driven innovation.
• Strong technical and operational skills demonstrated by a proven track record in supporting the design and delivery of project operations within the World Bank or similar type of projects/products for other entities, including in a development country context.
• Firm understanding of digital technology and digitally enabled business model trends relevant to socio-economic development in the African context and enthusiasm to stay abreast of innovation and emerging technology.
