About UNOPS Africa Regional Office
The UNOPS Africa Regional Office, based in Nairobi, Kenya, oversees the delivery of more than 250 projects across 40 countries. The office focuses particularly on fragile and conflict-affected settings.
With over 1,000 personnel across five multi-country offices covering North, West, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, and the Horn of Africa, UNOPS supports national priorities through initiatives in:
- Climate Action
- Health
- Infrastructure
- Peace and Security
- Middle-Income Country Support
- Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
Position Details
Finance Officer
Education Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related disciplines with 2 years of relevant experience
OR - Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the above disciplines with 0 years of relevant experience
Desired:
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or CIMA
- Knowledge of IPSAS or other international accounting standards
Experience Requirements
Required:
- Relevant experience in project financial management, budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, or related areas
- Demonstrable proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools (MS Office, G-Suite, etc.) and web-based management systems
Desired:
- Experience working in multicultural environments or within UN system organizations in a developing country
- Experience in development or humanitarian contexts
