Position 1: Research and Analysis Intern
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following academic criteria:
- Currently enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate-level program (Master’s or Ph.D. or equivalent); OR
- Currently enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Additional Information
- No prior professional work experience is required.
- The field of study must be closely related to the internship area.
- Eligible applicants include:
- Final-year undergraduate students
- Master’s or Ph.D. students
- Graduates with Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degrees
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide official academic certification during the recruitment process.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Position 2: Intern – Economic Affairs (Temporary)
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate-level programme (second university degree or higher); OR
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.
No prior professional experience is required. However, academic background, specialized training, coursework, or technical skills must be relevant to the internship role.
Required Skills and Competencies
Applicants should:
- Be proficient in standard computer software applications
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
- Show openness, respect, and tolerance for diverse perspectives and opinions

Important Internship Information
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
- Travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Ethiopia may need to obtain appropriate visa/work authorization.
- Job openings will be removed from the UN Careers Portal at 11:59 p.m. (New York time) on the deadline date.
